The Island Country Club, celebrating its 97th year in 2025, is nestled near the sea on Deer Isle, one of Maine’s most precious coastal islands.
Embark on a unique golfing adventure at our expanded 9-hole golf course, spanning approximately 2,400 yards (par 34). Designed to challenge the gifted player and delight the whole family, our course offers a 'first call/first served' tee time system. Tee times are mandatory for members and visitors, ensuring a seamless experience. While walk-ons are welcome, priority is given to tee time holders. Rental clubs for adults & youth are available, and we do have a limited number of riding and pull carts. Stay updated on league playing times, weekend tournaments, and course closures by calling ahead or visiting our calendar.
Our 3 newly resurfaced clay tennis courts are considered to be the best clay courts on the peninsula. You can call in advance to reserve a court. Visitors are also welcome to take part in Open Tennis, a friendly round-robin game of doubles where you will be paired up with other players on Wednesday mornings and Sunday afternoons. Wi-Fi is available throughout the Clubhouse, and we encourage you to relax after play by sitting in front of the fireplace or on the porches, enjoying a drink from our wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The Pro Shop offers a range of clothing, golf and tennis accessories, and mementos of visits to the Island Country Club. Also, ask about our ICC logo wine/coffee tumblers, water bottles, koozies, and divot tools!
A Taste of Deer Isle
The Island Country Club, located on an island in scenic coastal Maine, is a golf and tennis club where visitors are welcome to join with members in enjoying our cherished club. Our expanded 9-hole golf course, as featured in the Bangor Daily News, will challenge the experienced player yet is fun for the whole family. If golf isn’t your game, you can play tennis on one of our three newly resurfaced clay tennis courts and take in the view overlooking the course and the eastern mountains from the porch. Come enjoy our “best little country club in America” and the wonders of Deer Isle.
Our Course
Our Club was founded in 1928, and the golf course was designed by Wayne Stiles in 1926. Due to land shortages and the Great Depression, it took until 1932 for this historic course to officially get up and running. In 2009, Forbes Golf Design, LLC, provided a major renovation to the course, adding four new holes and a par-5 hole. The course now features irrigated fairways, greens, and signature holes with rolling greens, bunkers, and fescue-covered mounds.
